Plus Size And Pregnant

It's hard enough to find great clothing as a Plus Size shopper...add being pregnant to the mix and forget it!

Where there were more options years prior for Plus Size Maternity Apparel...Old Navy Plus Online, Simply Be Online, Lane Bryant Online...these departments are now gone.  Why? My best guess is that people didn't even know that these retailers offered Maternity clothing for the Plus Size Woman...or they didn't know the retailer existed for the Plus Size Customer period!  Please do a better job of advertising yourselves retailers!!!

Thankfully Destination Maternity is showing up for the Plus Size And Pregnant Woman...get this...both online and in stores!  Amazing!

Nursing Nightgown And Robe

My list of things to have in my hospital bag included a robe and nursing attire.  If you've ever shopped for a Plus Size robe you know the struggle.  I purchased the above along with another similar style in blue and I'm so happy I did.  I was able to wear the robes over my hospital gown while walking the halls trying to get my sweet baby boy into this world...and I've been wearing the nursing nightgowns and robes nonstop since I delivered. I'd honestly buy one or two more to have in my rotation if they weren't all sold out online right now.

BIG Thank You to Destination Maternity for doing Plus Size Maternity Apparel and even BIGGER Thank You for having it in your stores!

I'm Friends With A Monster...

I'm drawn to this super cute new graphic tee from ASOS Curve...I'm sure I'm "too old" for it...but I really don't care...I need it!

ASOS Curve Cropped T-Shirtwith Monster Print
$26.66

The only reason I didn't add this to my bag and check out immediately...it's cropped!  My midsection is my widest of sections...and I'm just not sure I can pull this bad boy off. Sooo...the hunt is now on for a great high wasted a-line skirt to balance out the crop in this top...if I find it this Monster is MINE!

Plus Size Maternity Clothing

Just a few years back this market had more to offer...sadly...now not so much.

I'm not one of the lucky ones that wears a 14/16 pre-baby ether...so the hunt is now on for styles to get me through this coming November...without looking tragic!

So far I've been able to size up one size in my two favorite Torrid jeans...

Torrid Ankle Zip Stiletto Jeans

Torrid Ankle Zip Stiletto Jean

And oddly I was able to make a pair of Old Navy Maternity Full-Panel Skinny Jeans fit in a size 18...though they won't fit for long.  I do wish they carried up to a size 20 like in the Women's section.

I also found that I needed some length in the tops department so I picked up two of these tanks for layering.  Though the side ruching is a tad itchy for me...others that have reviewed these tops have said it didn't bother them so I think it depends on your body shape.

Maternity Rib-Knit Tanks

I plan to pick up a variety of colors in the Tami below as this style has no side ruching.

Maternity Jersey-Stretch Tamis

Other than that I've picked up a few other things in the next size up...and I'm really excited about this soft dressing trend going on right now...that should help.

Working on getting some outfits put together for a shoot soon...stay tuned!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

And everything is coming up Tulips...Tulip Maxis that is!

So, I've been on the hunt for dresses and skirts...I'm trying to switch it up...all I wear it seems is pants and tops.

I recently tried on a maxi skirt at Torrid...it was nice but I felt like a Sister Wife in it...not really the look I was going for.  Bummed out, I headed online to check out alternative options for long line skirts and I discovered the Tulip hemmed skirt!  I've picked up one so far from Torrid...but I think I might need a few more colors which brought me to One Stop Plus!

Tulip Maxi Skirt
$48.50

Tulip Skirt
$29.99 - $34.99

I have a ton of cute sandals to wear with these skirts...but I'm super excited to rock my new boots with it too!

Eff Your Beauty Standards

Today's the day I've been waiting for...I finally get to order my Eff Your Beauty Standards merchandise!  And I have a little something to say about it...so I hope you'll stick with me and finish reading through my thoughts before you use the links provided below to shop.

It is HARD to go at it in the retail business on your own.  It takes time, creativity, more time, coordination, hustle, struggle...and then there are roadblocks and letdowns along the way.  But Tess believes in her movement as well as the charity she's giving some of her own profits to...and I'm on board with her.  Being the little guy is not easy...costs are high and there's nothing you can do about it without capital.  So yes, you can say $35.00 for a graphic tee is a bit much...and who likes to pay shipping (not me)...but we pay $4.00 for a bottle of water at Concerts, Disney...and so on.  Just think of it like you are buying a concert tee that you have to pay shipping for.  If she was selling through some Big Box Retailer I'd scoff at her pricing and shipping...but do a solid people and shop small.  Rant over.

V-Neck T-Shirt in Pink Print
$35.00

V-Neck T-Shirt in Teal Print
$35.00

Tote Bag
Available in two colors.
$20.00

Queen of Hearts 4'' Sticker
$5.00

3'' Logo Sticker
$3.00

1'' Buttons
$1.00

I ordered the V-Neck T-shirt in pink print...and I can't wait to get it...even though I'll have to as it's PreSale right now.  As soon as I get my Tee I'll be sure to do an updated post of me wearing it.  I'm so proud of Tess and can't wait to see what's to come from this line and the Eff Your Beauty Standards movement.  Congrats girl!

It's usually the last thing I'm shopping for...I'm a jeans girl so I'm normally shopping for tops...unless I need new jeans...but 17Sundays has me drooling over a few of their bottoms.  Oh...and one very radical jacket!

Contrast Slub Jersey Slouch Pants
$55.76 USD

Monte Carlo Wet Look Moto Legging
$65.06 USD

Take Me Away Sequin Trimmed Jacket
$139.47 USD

I love this brand and the awesome crew that makes it happen...if I ever get to Australia it will be one big love fest!

Winning

My Seahawks WON Super Bowl 48!!!

And maybe...just maybe my last blog entry made its way to the "right people" because these awesome t-shirts below are actually available up to size XXL!!!  Now I know that's not the victory I was hoping for but it's a step in the right direction.

Junk Food Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIIIChampions Ladies Tailgate Tri-Blend V-Neck T-Shirt
$34.95

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII Champions Rookie Raglan Three-Quarter Sleeve T-Shirt
$44.95

You better believe I bought both tees without hesitation...and I'd buy more too...sweatshirts, sweaters, track jackets.  What I'm saying is this...my money is here for the taking...make rad shit and I'll buy it...we'll buy it.  It's not that hard, we just want to cheer on our favorite teams like everyone else...and do it in style.  Stop giving us lame frumpy "options"...we don't want something different...and I'm pretty sure we can pull off a raglan tee...a v-neck...don't you think?!

I'm a Fan

So, my Seattle Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl for the second time...ever...YAY! And per usual the best fan gear doesn't come in my size...sigh.  I have a Junk Food sweatshirt that I recently bought from the Pro Shop while in Seattle for Christmas.  I found the last XXL and wiggled my way into it...I'm a proud fan and I like to look cute while I cheer...so why is it so hard to get the best of the best in my size?  Don't you want my money retailers?

I went ahead and bought this super cute Super Bowl tee pictured below in an XL...wish me luck!  Here's hoping it runs big.

Super Bowl XLVIII Ladies Dueling Helmets
Three-Quarter Raglan T-Shirt

$44.95

Torrid joined the NFL Fan club this year with a super narrow selection...I loved that the t-shirts were v-neck and didn't feel frumpy dumpy Plus Size-esk.  Here's hoping they do more next year and have options for all of the teams.

Lane Bryant also showed up with a promising collection...though again lacking options for all teams so maybe next year I'll get to give them a little more  of my money.  They did however come out with a great Super Bowl top featuring this years teams...and I can't help but love seeing my Hawks on top!  Here are a few of my favorite styles they offered this year...foil graphics, raglan sleeves and repeat prints!

With Straight Size lines like Victoria's Secret PINK and Junk Food offering such cute options it becomes frustrating to track down something you'd be excited about wearing on game day.  Touch by Alyssa Milano ranges from size XS - 4X...but my very petite friend that normally wears a small had to get an XL to fit her!  I have two items from the line, both in 4X...and I have no wiggle room...but I normally wear a 2X or a size 20...not so fun for the girls needing larger sizes than that.  Oh, and the Touch line rarely goes above an XL.

It's no secret...I LOVE City Chic tankinis...they're not even paying me to say it!  I love looking at their Australian site to get a preview of what's to come to the US site.  Pretty sure I need these beach cover-ups for my next trip to Maui!

Comfortable Casual

For the longest time I struggled with putting together looks that were both comfortable and casual...it seems like it would be an easy task really...but for me it always came down to the shoes.

Comfortable shoes...not always so cute!  At any rate...I'm now more than comfortable building outfits I love to wear and feel comfortable rocking all day long...could have something to do with my growing shoe collection!
